**The Role**

+ Support plant strategies related to HPTs and operational excellence.
**What Success Looks Like**
+ Stable and reliable performance of automation and control systems.
+ Properly integrated, validated, and released automation equipment.
+ High availability of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and robotic systems.
+ Accurate and updated automation documentation and program backups.
+ Compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9000, ISO 14001, and safety standards.
+ Reduced downtime caused by automation or control system failures.
+ Strong collaboration with Production, Engineering, Projects, and Plant Management.
+ Continuous improvement through effective system integration and modernization.
**What You Bring**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
+ Experience in Automation, Control, and Instrumentation, Process Engineering, or Project Engineering.
+ Advanced programming skills in PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens - latest generation).
+ Experience programming Robots, HMIs, SCADA systems, and motion control systems.
+ Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control devices.
+ Experience with industrial networks and vision systems.
+ Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control diagrams.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
+ Strong PC and automation software skills.
+ Analytical mindset with statistical analysis capability.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Role Purpose**
The IT Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting all information technology operations within the plant or manufacturing site. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems, networks, hardware, software, and production-related technologies that support daily plant operations. The IT Supervisor coordinates technical support, supervises IT personnel or service providers, minimizes system downtime, and works closely with production, engineering, and other departments to maintain seamless technology performance; supports the design, development, and deployment of digital transformation AI and data solutions.

**Key Responsibilities:** Supervise daily IT operations within the plant to ensure smooth and uninterrupted support for production and administrative activities. Ensure proper functioning of plant-related systems such as ERP terminals, barcode scanners, production monitoring systems, timekeeping devices, and other operational technologies. Build strong working relationships within the IT digital team and across manufacturing and business functions. Support the maintenance, enhancement, and success of existing digital solutions. Collaborate closely with IT Digital and Data Analytics leadership and project stakeholders. Establish and maintain appropriate levels of operational support against established metrics. Participate as part of the plant staff to effectively integrate the IT organization and IT systems into day-to-day plant operations, and work with plant staff to make team-based decisions that support overall plant efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor and maintain plant IT infrastructure, including servers, network devices, computers, printers, Wi-Fi, and other connected systems. Track IT assets, spare equipment, software licenses, and ensure proper documentation. Coordinate with head office IT, vendors, and plant departments on projects, system improvements, and issue resolution. Provide stable and reliable IT support for all plant operations with minimal system downtime. Ensure timely resolution of user-reported IT issues and service requests. Maintain functional and reliable plant IT infrastructure, including network, hardware, and software systems. Keep an updated inventory of IT assets, licenses, and support records. Perform regular system health checks and maintain maintenance reports and incident documentation. Ensure compliance with IT security policies, operational procedures, and audit requirements. Support successful implementation of plant IT projects, upgrades, and technology improvements. Improve performance and availability of production-related IT systems.
**Experiences/Education - Required**
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, technical support, systems administration, or network management.
2+ years demonstrated leadership abilities
2+ years of experience in manufacturing or leading projects in the industry

**What is your role?**
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines, curated datasets, and cloud-based data solutions supporting Corning's manufacturing and operational environments.
You will independently lead complex Data Engineering initiatives, collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, and provide guidance to other engineers through mentoring, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.Major responsibilities and tasks of the position:
- Design, build, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data solutions for batch and near-real-time use cases.
- Develop reliable, production-ready datasets that support manufacturing visibility, operational decision-making, analytics, reporting, and AI/ML applications.
- Implement automated data-quality checks, monitoring, observability, and validation processes to improve data reliability and reduce production issues.
- Lead the technical delivery of complex Data Engineering projects, including solution design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams, analysts, data scientists, product owners, architects, application teams, and business stakeholders.
- Mentor Data Engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and engineering best practices.
**What do you need to have?**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or another related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or a related data-focused role, including designing, building, maintaining, or supporting production data pipelines.
- At least 2 years of hands-on professional experience using Python and building data pipelines in a production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, SparkSQL, or comparable distributed data-processing technologies.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with data modeling, relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse environments.
- Experience working with manufacturing, production, industrial, operational, equipment, quality, or supply-chain data.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. AWS experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience leading technical projects or independently owning complex Data Engineering initiatives.- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions and architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
**What would be helpful?**
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake, Parquet, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.- Experience with Kafka, Flink, or other real-time and streaming technologies.- Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or another data orchestration platform.- Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines, Large Language Models, AI agents, intelligent automation, or AI-enabled data-quality solutions.- Experience with time-series data, sensor data, industrial IoT, or operational technology systems.- Familiarity with PI Integrator, Camstar, Maximo, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel.
