Unlike static calculators, BuyAbility delivers personalized, real-time budgets—a comfortable target and a stretch max—updated daily as mortgage rates and market conditions shift.
These budgets appear throughout the Zillow app (search, filters, listing pages), immediately showing whether a home is “within BuyAbility” and what steps a shopper can take to close the gap. By providing personalized insights and a seamless in-app experience, BuyAbility guides users from initial interest to mortgage-ready, increasing the likelihood they will choose ZHL for their financing needs.

Looking ahead, we’re rolling out:
- Soft credit pulls (Experian) for sharper affordability estimates.
- Financial-viability questions that help predict readiness to transact.
- An in-app pre-approval step that turns a budget into verified buying power.

We’re hiring a Senior Mobile Engineering Manager to lead a team of iOS and Android engineers that power BuyAbility in the Zillow app. You’ll partner closely with product, design, marketing, data science, and back-end engineers to deliver seamless affordability and engagement features that carry customers from budgeting to closing.

You’ll play a critical role in scaling the team, modernizing our mobile tech stack, and shaping cross-platform experiences that make home buying more accessible and transparent.

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position.   • As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Vendor Platform or Vendor Storefront team, you'll be working directly with our engineering, design & product teams and be responsible for shipping full projects and features that immediately benefit our customers.

This team works closely with software development engineers while supporting all users and brands. The Senior Incident Manager plays a key role in maintaining availability of Zillow services. Incident managers drive proactive readiness, change management, incident management, and root cause analysis. This requires working effectively in real-time with highly technical engineers and business leaders. Incident managers identify and build processes, demonstrate calm under pressure, and adaptively work with all types of stakeholders.

Areas of responsibility include:

Incident Management

  • Own live-site incident management during customer-impacting events, driving immediate engagement where needed and providing executive-facing updates

  • Sufficient technical background, ideally in networking, systems, and software development

  • Hands-on experience analyzing incidents, root causes, weaknesses, corrective actions, etc.

  • Proficiency guiding and influencing technical teams and leaders on incident processes

  • Proficiency communicating technical updates to non-technical stakeholders

  • Business acumen to understand business issues and align communications strategies to outcomes accordingly

  • Experience creating Tableau dashboards from operational data

  • ITILv3 Foundation certification a plus

  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office documents and co-authoring features

  • Proficiency working from home and virtually with distributed teams

  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative in scaling programs to large organizations
