General function and primary objective


The primary responsibility for the CAD Designer is to participates in the electrical design of complex controls systems by working with members of the engineering team. They provide support through the creation of drawings (electrical physical layouts, schematics, and bills of material), while ensuring that applicable codes (UL508A) are being met.


Role:


The company has a need for a CAD Designer in our Lifecycle Solutions Services (LSS) group. The preferred candidate will have experience working in the material handling industry.


Candidates must have the below qualifications:


  • The ability to work proficiently within the AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) environment or comparable design tool.
  • Experience with controls hardware design, including control panel design.
  • Willingness to work overtime is expected.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of successful experience in related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively.


Responsibilities:


  • Completes complex drawings to comply with engineering requirements.
  • Completes the creation of complex design layouts and detail drawings of complex products.
  • Performs compilation of materials and specification sheets.
  • Performs dimension/specification determinations necessary on complex drawings for effective manufacturing and installation.
  • Prepares the drawings for the designs of cost-effective, complex products with adherence to applicable industry and customer standards/specifications.
  • Performs review of complex engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to department/industry drafting standards.
  • Performs complex and technically demanding work within technical or paraprofessional setting.
  • Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is more difficult and complex.
  • Able to solve common or simple problems without escalation.
  • Involves others for complex, unusual problems.


Education:

  • Typically, bachelors degree,
  • Specialized skill training/certification may be required.


Knowledge:

  • Successfully demonstrates thorough/advanced knowledge of a technical or specialty area.

Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer works under minimal supervision while developing designs, complex layouts, and stack-ups of individual components, sub systems and systems. The individual checks detail drawings and layouts. This includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required. The incumbent continues any training of advanced CAD/CAM methods and collaborates with Driveline Engineering team members to release components and assemblies into PLM system.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop accurate complex designs, layouts, and stack-ups of individual parts or assemblies.
  • Check detail drawings and layouts, which includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required.
  • Determine critical dimension and tolerance information by working with engineering personnel.
  • Perform maintenance of CAD/CAM files. Continue training with advanced CAD/CAM methods and equipment and start and/or continues training with CAE methods and equipment.
  • Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, and co-workers. This requires maintaining daily personal contact with all facets of the function's operations and remaining aware of current progress.
  • Develop and maintain customer and internal guide files, drafting standards, work instructions, and other tools intended to enhance the efficiency and abilities of his/her Design Group.
  • Brainstorm new design concepts and assist in the creation and management of prototype BOM’s
  • Work in Siemens Teamcenter to manage work orders, drawings, BOM structure, and 3D models
  • Work with other Driveline Engineering team members on continuous improvement projects such as process enhancements, new design techniques and concept layouts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally to manufacturing sites, with a primary focus on gaining hands-on knowledge of the assembly line and providing support for design and production-related concerns as needed.
  • New Business Opportunity (NBO) pursuits by designing and developing complete mechanical systems, including integrated drive modules (iDMs) and fully assembled eMotors.
  • Provide support for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives within application projects to optimize cost, performance, and manufacturability.

What we are looking for


REQUIRED


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (minimum requirement)


Industry Experience:

  • Over 5 years of engineering experience in the automotive sector or a or a global manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with EV and ICE Powertrain systems, including powertrain, transmission, and electric drive module components is required.
  • Background in powertrain systems, with demonstrated experience in design, development, or integration regarded as a valuable asset.

Demonstrated success in the design, development, and launch of advanced powertrain systems, with a strong track record of delivering high-performance solutions from concept to production


Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD modeling and technical drawing using NX primarily and CATIA as preferred.
  • Deep understanding of complex design layouts, stack-ups, and verbal design instructions
  • Expert-level application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong analytical skills for component and subsystem design and evaluation
  • Experience in creating and maintaining DFMEA documentation


Digital Proficiency :

  • Teamcenter knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Prepare technical drawings to support Engineers and Project Managers using 3D.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Purpose BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer works under minimal supervision while developing designs, complex layouts, and stack-ups of individual components, sub systems and systems. The individual checks detail drawings and layouts. This includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required. The incumbent continues any training of advanced CAD/CAM methods and collaborates with Driveline Engineering team members to release components and assemblies into PLM system. Key Responsibilities Develop accurate complex designs, layouts, and stack-ups of individual parts or assemblies. Check detail drawings and layouts, which includes producing detail drafting and other drafting related tasks as required. Determine critical dimension and tolerance information by working with engineering personnel. Perform maintenance of CAD/CAM files. Continue training with advanced CAD/CAM methods and equipment and start and/or continues training with CAE methods and equipment. Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, and co-workers. This requires maintaining daily personal contact with all facets of the function's operations and remaining aware of current progress. Develop and maintain customer and internal guide files, drafting standards, work instructions, and other tools intended to enhance the efficiency and abilities of his/her Design Group. Brainstorm new design concepts and assist in the creation and management of prototype BOM’s Work in Siemens Teamcenter to manage work orders, drawings, BOM structure, and 3D models Work with other Driveline Engineering team members on continuous improvement projects such as process enhancements, new design techniques and concept layouts. Willingness and ability to travel locally to manufacturing sites, with a primary focus on gaining hands-on knowledge of the assembly line and providing support for design and production-related concerns as needed. New Business Opportunity (NBO) pursuits by designing and developing complete mechanical systems, including integrated drive modules (iDMs) and fully assembled eMotors. Provide support for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives within application projects to optimize cost, performance, and manufacturability. What we are looking for REQUIRED Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (minimum requirement) Industry Experience: Over 5 years of engineering experience in the automotive sector or a or a global manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with EV and ICE Powertrain systems, including powertrain, transmission, and electric drive module components is required. Background in powertrain systems, with demonstrated experience in design, development, or integration regarded as a valuable asset. Demonstrated success in the design, development, and launch of advanced powertrain systems, with a strong track record of delivering high-performance solutions from concept to production Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD modeling and technical drawing using NX primarily and CATIA as preferred. Deep understanding of complex design layouts, stack-ups, and verbal design instructions Expert-level application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Strong analytical skills for component and subsystem design and evaluation Experience in creating and maintaining DFMEA documentation Digital Proficiency : Teamcenter knowledge Proficient with Microsoft office products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint PREFERRED Manufacturing knowledge: Understanding of key manufacturing processes including forging, casting, machining, heat treatment, welding, balancing, surface treatments, and molding is preferred. Professional & Interpersonal skills: High proficiency in English Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with proven ability to work effectively in team environments. Requires professional verbal and written communication skills, along with the capability to manage complex technical details with precision. CAD/UX Designer IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY Prepare technical drawings to support Engineers and Project Managers using 3D. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Produce product 3D and 2D drawings based on customer requirements with input from Product Specialist. Ensure drawings are built per CAD guidelines and specific customer requirements. Complete drawings in timely manner based on agreed CAD requests from Product Specialists. Displace drawings in PDM for Product Specialist review. Produce tool drawings ensuring most efficient usage of materials and minimum manufacturing time. Learn new revisions of software as they are released. Provide feedback to Product Specialists regarding product improvement or modification. Attend design review meetings as required. SYSTEM MANAGEMENT / CSR Take part and comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System IATF 16949, Environmental. Management System – ISO 14001 and Occupational Health, Safety Management System - ISO 45001 and TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange), corresponding to the position. Prepare evidence of compliance and support audits. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Desirable Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor degree. Diploma or certificate in 3D software or equivalent technical degree or equivalent technical experience. 2 year experience using 3D software.Experience in AutoCAD/UX software is an asset. Unigraphics, CATIA V5 Basic Knowledge on the Internal IATF 16949, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Procedures Understands English. Ability to draft, read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents, including complex patent applications. Ability to write speeches and articles and the ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to large groups.
