Operational Excellence Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Excellence Manager to lead and facilitate our continuous improvement initiatives. As a change agent, you will guide teams to implement lean processes and efficient value-added practices aligned with our high standards.

This role involves organizational functions and cross-functional interactions with various departments to support ongoing process improvement opportunities. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a unified approach to the continuous improvement process, focusing on delivering high-quality products and services through lean processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a unified approach to the continuous improvement process.
  • Lead and facilitate teams to implement lean processes and efficient value-added practices.
  • Work with various departments to identify and address process improvement opportunities.
  • Implement industry best practices such as lean methodologies, including 5S, value stream mapping (VSM), Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of basic and advanced continuous improvement tools such as lean manufacturing, TQM, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, 5 Whys, control plans, root cause analysis, Poka Yoke, etc.
  • Excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to lead project teams across departments and/or cross-functional personnel located at various plants in North America.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience gained within a multi-plant manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to facilitate with managers from multiple locations.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Bilingual.
  • Six Sigma (Black Belt) Certification

As Process Improvement Sr Analyst you will identify, evaluate, analyze, design, document organization business processes, with skills to detect and suggest improvements to increase the efficiency and productivity of operations and improve the value delivered to the client, with a holistic vision, allowing the company an effective process management.

You will work closely with multifunctional teams to collect data, evaluate processes, analyze controls and metrics of the organization, apply and manage organizational changes to foster continuous improvement, with excellent analytical and communication skills, and solid knowledge in enterprise processes.

  • Analyze, design, document organization business processes, preparing and managing the necessary sessions and workshops with involved team to achieve the processes documented and updated.   • Support the Quality Management System, mapping and documenting the processes aligned with the process framework and Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identifies & evaluates potential risks and implement action plans.
  • Conduct data review and other analysis to determine root causes of service performance in process business. Look for opportunities to automate processes. Based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs, recommends approaches or changes to streamline and integrate processes to improve overall efficiency.

Qualifications — Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems or Process Engineering, or related with 8 or more years of experience in a services environment.
  • Intermediate /Advanced English Level (B2-C1),– Proficient in talking, writing & reading.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Knowledge and application of Lean- Six Sigma, Process Reengineering, Continuous Improvement Projects methodologies or similar.
  • Experience in documenting business requirements and business process.
  • Experience with process improvement & problem-solving skills to support all departments on Root Cause Analysis and Problem solving.
  • Experience in applying change management methodologies to support the people side of change, including changes to business processes and systems.
  • Support the creation of the process documentation (Flow charts, procedures, policies, manuals, etc.)

+ Responsible for new site enrollment, onboarding training, CMMI Workshops, and Leadership training.

This role will be supporting Core Quality Services; specifically, enterprise-wide expansion of the Case for Quality Voluntary Improvement Program (VIP). In this position, you will engage with the business to develop VIP strategy and lead global teams in the deployment of Medtronic-wide organizational improvements. You will have an opportunity to build business acumen through CMMI Appraiser certification and execution at participating sites. Finally, you will play a critical role in external advocacy work that will positively impact how work is done at Medtronic, while providing even more benefit to our patients!

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for management and oversight of Case for Quality Programs such as the Voluntary improvement Program (VIP). This role will engage global Quality, Ops & OU leadership in strategic planning for VIP and will partner with the program leadership team and site resources to execute deployment actions on schedule.

  • Responsible for using Operational Excellence tool sets (e.g., Lean-Sigma, PMO) to lead and execute enterprise-wide improvement projects while building the program infrastructure needed to support current VIP sites and incorporate CMMI best practice into the business.

  • Responsible for new site enrollment, onboarding training, CMMI Workshops, and Leadership training.

  • Responsible for developing strong partnerships across Medtronic, at all levels, to further establish VIP and meet defined program deliverables.

  • Responsible for engaging with and representing Medtronic on external working groups to design the future of VIP.

  • This role includes the need for strategic planning, global program/solution deployment, problem solving, relationship building with site resources and daily execution of standardized work and issue resolution for enrolled sites.

  • Travel requirements: Up to 25%

The Quality Assurance Engineer will have a key position to support production as main leader, assuring the compliance for regulations, standards, QMS internal procedures on new projects, process improvements, validation & re-validations, risk management and customer complaints investigations.
In relation to quality issues from nonconforming material, maintain quality indicators and internal deviations to coordinate and perform needed activities for a good follow up of a quality system.
**Key responsibilities**
Process Control related
+ Assure the process control is followed during product manufacturing. Monitor the process output and organize activities to meet and maintain the product quality standards.
+ Support the quality system by being focused on adequate handling of non-conformity activities, corrective and preventive actions.
+ Define a classification of all Non-Conformities based upon the risk.
+ Coordinate and lead the investigation / root cause, with the team member involved (maintenance, production, logistic, engineering, etc.).
+ Review, update and develop procedures, instructions, quality specification as needed.
+ Collect and review the objective evidence to complete the investigation and therefore the correct NC closure and assure the effectiveness of the actions established.
+ Follow up the QA roll as per NC procedure require (for instance, Originator, Owner, Quality Reviewer, Approver, etc.) as needed.
+ Monitor the process KPIs (PPMs, NCs, etc) and present any trending to the NCRB and take actions if needed.
+ Make sure the actions are being supported or referenced to the quality system.
+ Promote ideas for continuously improvement of Quality with the end achieve the fulfillment across of the systems simplicity.
+ Support at several areas where his/her experience and technical knowledge about the problem can be usefully (production, microbiology, systems, etc).
+ Perform internal process audits, when required.
+ Keep communication with other departments MX / DK in relation to any quality problem.
+ Create Quality alerts and Provide support on the definition of quality criteria, when needed.
Projects & Validation related
+ Participate in development teams having as main responsibility the quality and fulfillment with the regulations or other applicable standards.
+ Update and develop PFMEcA from the Risk management related with changes from projects, internal inputs, etc.
+ Support on the risk assessment preparation, when needed.
+ Support on the development of verification and validation of products.
+ Establish and maintain VMP (Validation Master Plan) for re-validation of process equipment, including validation history and assure it is approved by and communicated to relevant areas.
+ In cooperation with the Production and Eng Department ensure resource planning for re-validation activities.
+ Filling of validation documentation is following procedures and applicable regulations.
+ Review of acute maintenance on process equipment for evaluation of need for re-validation according to document .
+ Management of software validations in all systems applied, in collaboration with project leader
+ Collaborate on validation of molds and molding machines providing the support as Quality Engineering
+ To comply with the company quality policy.
+ Support on review IQ, OQ and PQ validations of test equipment validation.
Safety, Health, and Environment Responsibilities
+ Comply with safety, health and environmental policy, procedures established by the EHSMS.
+ Maintain applicable documented information related to the EHSMS up to date.
+ Participate in committees, training's, and awareness, to ensure proper competency of their position if applicable.
+ Be aware of and support compliance with applicable significant environmental aspects and associated significant environmental impacts.
+ Understand EHS risk and legal requirements relating to job responsibilities and appropriate requirements.
+ Execute job responsibilities with professional care and in compliance with legal requirements and internal standards without compromising the safety of self and others.
+ Be alert to EHS hazards in the workplace, responding to them as appropriate and communicating them to responsible management as soon as they are identified (e.g. spills).
+ Help drive continuous performance improvement in EHS areas, recommending potential improvements to responsible management.
+ Participate in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing the necessary actions to achieve the intended results of their activities.
**Requirements**
+ Verbal and written English, C1 level minimum a MUST
+ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer by ASQ) preferred
+ Experience in Cost Reduction projects a preferred
+ Black Belt certification preferred
+ Bachelor's degree (Mechanical, Electronic, Industrial area or similar education)
+ Min. 3 years' experience on Engineering areas
+ Strong Experience on handling of QMS (Quality management system)
+ Strong Experience on Quality Control Charts (histogram, pareto, process capability calculations, controls charts, etc)
+ Strong Experience on Quality Management Tools (brainstorms, flow diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, etc.)
+ Focus on continues improvement mindset
+ Training/Knowledge on FDA QSR's and GMP's, ISO 13485, J-PAL/Ordinance No.169, EU and Canadian medical devices regulation, or similar regulations, preferred
+ Familiar with common computers software packages. MS Office, etc. required
+ Availability to work in different shifts.

+ Able to travel, if required

- Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of quality assurance engineering equivalent experience
- Experience in automation testing
- Experience in manual testing
- Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects
- Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium
- Experience of using test case management tools (e.g. Test Rail, TestLink) and issue management tools (Jira)
