About the Job

Help serve America and Oceania region’s countries with data driven solutions. Data Scientists at Toyota Financial Services provide quantitative support, international regulatory standards compliance, and strategic perspective to the countries in the AOR region. This team acts as an internal consulting unit focused on the development, monitoring, and validation of models with high business impact and exposure. As part of the Data Science team, you will make critical recommendations to the different stakeholders across the region.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems based on statistical analysis, statistical modeling, and coding (e.g. Python, R, SQL).
  • Strong ability to communicate complex business problems and solutions in English and Spanish fluently to interact with regional and local stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset, international perspective, and openness to working on a hybrid model with occasional travel (<10%).
  • Version control techniques knowledge (GitHub, Git).


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with statistical and quantitative modeling, forecasting, and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with analytics, data, and client focused solutions.

This role will involve collaborating closely with Product Owners and Data Engineers to develop advanced algorithms and digital features. What you will be doing:

  • Develop new or modify existing algorithms and features that leverage Python, SQL, Databricks, and PySpark to enhance data analytics and processing capabilities.
  • Design, implement, and validate descriptive and predictive models, utilizing time series data to assess and predict equipment downtime and failure modes.
  • Tune existing machine learning models.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Owners and Data Engineers to define requirements, gather and curate data, and develop digital solutions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

  • Exposure to Information Retrieval, Web scraping and Data Extraction at scale

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering , or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with Azure cloud services for data processing and analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL for querying, data preparation, and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI for building dashboards and delivering insights.
  • Ability to design and execute data -driven solutions to support business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to explain complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • English proficiency (B2+), both written and spoken.


You will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and transform data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Build and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to generate insights and forecasts.
  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards to communicate data insights to business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Leverage Azure cloud services to manage and optimize data pipelines and analytical solutions.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, analyze, and transform large datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, business) to align data science solutions with organizational goals.
  • Translate business problems into data science approaches and deliver actionable recommendations.
  • Stay current with emerging tools and methods in data science, cloud analytics, and visualization .
