Objective:

The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and optimizing logistics operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining the smooth flow of goods across borders, supporting Foxconn’s global supply chain efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

Import & Export Operations

  • Coordinate import and export activities, including documentation, scheduling, and customs clearance
  • Classify goods according to tariff codes and ensure accurate declarations
  • Prepare and process shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
  • Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any transportation issues

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all shipments comply with local and international trade regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of import/export transactions for audits and reporting
  • Stay updated on changes in customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements

Logistics Coordination

  • Plan logistics routes and arrange transportation with carriers and freight forwarders
  • Communicate with suppliers, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations
  • Support warehouse and inventory teams with inbound and outbound shipment coordination

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Track and report key metrics related to shipping performance and cost
  • Identify opportunities to streamline import/export processes and reduce delays
  • Assist in developing SOPs for international logistics procedures


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in import/export or international logistics
  • Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written); Mandarin is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Competencias y habilidades:

**Purpose of Position:**
Oversee and coordinate all import / export compliance activities to ensure adherence to regulations and optimize operational efficiency within the organization's import/export processes.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Coordinate and supervise daily activities related to import / export, including receipt, transfer, and accurate inventory management.
+ Assign and manage personnel to efficiently handle incoming materials, ensuring timely offloading and routing within the facility.
+ Coordinate distribution of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) items throughout the facility to support operational needs.
+ Ensure seamless delivery of raw materials to manufacturing areas to prevent production interruptions.
+ Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and audits to meet departmental objectives.
+ Develop, update, and implement trade control and compliance procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
+ Ensure maximum compliance with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) requirements.
+ Coordinate dispatch of materials based on production requirements to avoid interruptions.
+ Proactively identify and address potential issues that may impact inventory accuracy or production continuity.
**Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Foreign Trade, International Trade, or Logistics.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export compliance
+ Proficiency in SAP and strong knowledge of customs regulations.
+ Subject matter expertise in logistics processes and project identification to drive efficiency improvements.

Position Overview

The position is the gatekeeper of the customs import-export database, regularly updating its catalogs on approved changes by the import-export manager. Works directly with the provider on software performance and maintenance updates and projects related to customs regulations or company requirements changes.

Performs the monthly inventory backflush analysis vs the data stage file and SAP inventory balances, reviewing the report with the import-export manager for approval before it’s presented to SAT.

Confirms that export declarations via the SAP BOM generated file are correct (SAP, BPM TXT file vs commercial invoice information generated by the customs software) working with the SAP reporting team on required updates that reflect correct information on the Cis.

What you'll do

  • Maintain and control the IMMEX inventory balance in the customs compliance software under the threshold period required by Mexican Customs Law by type of operation (18 months for IN, 6 months for V1, etc.
  • Reconcile all import and export manifests (pedimentos) against the DataStage file that’s received by SAT.
  • Execute the monthly backflush process in the customs compliance software against the reconciled DataStage inventory to get to the PCN/HTS quantity balance and generate an executive summary.
  • Cross-reference the backflush report against the SAP inventory by PCN to identify offenders
  • Transmit the monthly backflush report to SAT once approved by the import-export manager
  • Direct point of contact with the software provider for maintenance updates or other requirements
  • Maintain and control project logs for hourly service packages
  • Work in conjunction with local IT on databases backup
  • Update all software catalogs as required (new components, finished products, unit costs, HTS codes, etc.)
  • Update all labor and raw material unit costs once a month
  • Train new associates in basic user or the software
  • Generate SQL reports, reporting templates, document layouts and automated month-end report mail outs
  • Ensures correct commercial invoice EDI transmissions are being received by the MX/US customs brokers
  • Any other activity assigned by the import-export manager

Who you are

  • Gestionar la capacitación y desarrollo del equipo, promoviendo el cumplimiento del plan anual de formación.
  • Implementar acciones correctivas y preventivas para mitigar riesgos y asegurar la continuidad de la operación.
  • Dar seguimiento a procesos administrativos y operativos clave relacionados con proveedores externos, garantizando el control de inventarios, saldos y catálogos.
  • Promover un ambiente de trabajo positivo, alineado a los valores organizacionales, y asegurar que el equipo cuente con las herramientas necesarias para desempeñar sus funciones.
  • Escalar oportunamente cualquier situación crítica que represente un riesgo para la operación.

Experiencia y requisitos

Requisitos:

  • Escolaridad Licenciatura en Comercio Exterior y Aduanas, Negocios Internacionales o carrera afín.
  • Mínimo 3 años de experiencia en posiciones de liderazgo, preferentemente en áreas de logística, cumplimiento aduanero o comercio exterior.
  • Cumplimiento aduanero y regulaciones aplicables.
  • Conocimiento en:

  • Coordinación logística y gestión de transporte

  • Operación de almacenes.
  • Auditorías externas
  • Manejo de Anexo 24 y Anexo 22
  • Certificaciones y prácticas de OEA/CTPAT (mínimo 2 años)
  • Gestión de proyectos (mínimo 2 años)

  • Manejo de Excel intermedio.

  • Inglés avanzado.
  • Visa vigente (deseable)
  • Conocimientos de normas ISO 9001 o sistemas de gestión de calidad (deseable)
