You will be working as an instrumentation control engineer for power grids within a team of hvdc project management and engineering specialists. Your role involves designing and delivering full hvdc control and protection solutions using the hvdc test center located in a regional area.
You will serve as the interface between the system operator and the major automation and control systems of the hvdc system.
Your Key Responsibilities- Design and engineer hvdc control systems, including bay control units, scada systems, and monitoring components.
- Develop and integrate control and hmi software, ensuring functionality through simulation, real-time testing, and system integration.
- Build and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, manuals, signal databases, and engineering estimates.
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to clarify technical requirements, system features, and graphical interfaces.
- Support testing and commissioning activities, providing both remote and onsite technical assistance during system deployment.
- Degree in electrical or automation engineering with a focus on energy systems or substation technology.
- Hands-on experience with hmi systems, protocol converters, and local control units.
- Strong knowledge of communication protocols, such as iec61850, iecc101/104, opc, and dnp, and their application in scada and substation automation.
- Basic programming skills in languages like c, c++, java, or c#, along with experience in data processing and object-oriented development.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel, with proficiency in english and experience working in cross-functional customer-facing environments.

A Snapshot of Your DayAs part of our highly motivated and international project team, you would work on Power Generation, HVDC transmission, and FACTS projects, helping us to take big steps together towards decarbonization and stability of the high-voltage grid.
Working with a variety of clients, such as developers or transmission system operators, in different countries, you will be able to expand your expertise and intercultural skills and make an important contribution to the energy transition.How You'll Make an ImpactOverall responsibility for the execution of electrical engineering in our projects - securing the fulfillment of customer contracts and related specifications.Being responsible for the electrical execution team in close cooperation and communication with the project engineering manager and general project management as well as with other relevant team members (e.g., your line manager)Managing and monitoring of our internal and external suppliers including handling of the electrical, I&C and related layout interfacesProject reporting regarding engineering progress, technical clarifications and engineering risks or opportunities.
Supporting the construction site during installation and commissioning to solve upcoming problemsImplementation, steering and control of the electrical design process with focus on related concepts, technical specification preparation and BoQsIdentification and proactive managing of risks, opportunities, and claims.
Supervising of on time delivery of all deliverables, quality and electrical engineering hour consumption and ensuring our EHS standards are met.What You BringMaster's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Energy Management or related fieldsMore than 10 years of experience in managing the electrical engineering equipments of large HVDC or Substation or Power Generation or Hydrogen projectsStrong Technical knowledge in Electrical Power Systems, Motor Control Centers, MV and LV Switchgears, Transformers, Converters, Rectifiers, Single Line and Three Line Diagrams etcExperience in project management and/or managing of intercultural teams.Extensive background in handling solution projects (proposal and execution phase).
Knowledge of IEC and IEEE / NEC Codes and Standards is highly preferred.Knowledge regarding HVDC transmission or Power Generation is an advantage.High-level proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are a valuable asset.Strong background in intercultural collaboration, with successful partnership alongside international clients, consortium partners, and suppliers.Proactive communication and good coordination skillsKnowledge of Electrical software such as ETAP is highly preferred.About the TeamProject Entity is responsible for world class project execution and the successful delivery of sophisticated projects across Siemens Energy.
