**_PRIMARY FUNCTION:_**

Provide manufacturing technical direction and technical assistance for new and existing products, including process design and tooling requirements for manufacturing operations.

The position supports continuous improvement in production while utilizing the framework of the Eaton Business System (EBS) and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) and Tijuana Safety culture initiatives

**_ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: _**
- Able to confer with Design Engineering on manufacturability and testability of new products and bring new products into Manufacturing:

- Ability to understand Welding, Paint, machining, & marking & stamping concepts and be able to interact with Design Engineers in technical discussions around these processes.
- Ability to tailor process development around expected volume and duration of the product.
- Possesses a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance usage.
- Familiarity with New Product Introduction project management systems.
- Capable of estimating costing on new products at various stages of Design completion.
- Evaluates/Selects tooling and equipment supplies.
- Develops, evaluates and improve manufacturing methods, including tooling, fixtures and processes.
- Confers with material planner to assure identification of unique, long lead time, special handling or high-cost items to assure appropriate measures will be taken prior to production startup.
- Develops and analyzed statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas
- Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Develops, implements, and audits inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
- Able to work with direct personnel input in a daily basis

**Qualifications**:

- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible to develop and implement changes to product design and/or to the manufacturing or service process to achieve significant quality, or cost improvements. Requires participation in new product development programs, identifying design-for-manufacturability issues and ensuring these issues are addressed prior to release.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Ensuring that production/service processes and systems as well as our product designs produce the highest possible quality (consistency) and lowest possible cost.
- Participate as key team member on larger manufacturing projects, and act as project leader with specific focus on small scope projects, as assigned by manager.

- Provide support to the paint area, resolve problems related to this process. Evaluate and design ergonomic workstations and material handling systems. Work closely with the NPI department to ensure final product specifications in the implementations of Engineering orders (EO) are suitable for mass production/manufacturability. Ensure robust feedback loops between departments, and communicate lessons learnt once products are in production. Work closely with NPI engineering and planning areas to define replenishment policies to the line and planning policies for each new or revise part number. Work closely with quality production and quality control team to assure that defects are minimized, most important are recorded and acted upon
- Trouble shoot existing manufacturing processes, fixtures, tooling or equipment using Lean tools, A3, 8D’s, PDCA, Kaizen suitable continues improvement tool
- Develop data and information for the justification of process improvement, new or replacement equipment and the subsequent preparation of capital expenditure requests (CEA).

How You'll Help Us Connect the World
- Permanent seeking of process and improvement to meet the Department Goals: Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery Time.
- Continuous improvements using Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing tools.
- Ensure proper manufacturing documentation for NPI and Check List pre-run and Post run.
- Lead Lean/Continuous improvement teams such as Kaizen, Cellular Mfg., One Piece Flow, 5S, visual management & Kanban.
- Manage Product transfer projects.
- Design manufacturing cells layouts.
- Coach and mentor Manufacturing engineers.
- Support new product releases through pre-production phase, by finding manufacturability issues and providing feedback to design engineers. Establish and update DFM guidelines as required to support new product development.
- Generate engineering change orders/requests to support process and product changes.
- Create and maintain PFMEA for back-end processes.
- Perform mechanical analysis of assembly quality and process issues.
- Manual and automatic assembly experience.
- Design and order assembly fixtures and tooling.

Required Qualifications for Consideration
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5-7 years of related experience.
- Fluent in English 80% (oral, written, listening)
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.

Definir y estandarizar los procesos a través de la implementación de las herramientas de Lean Manufacturing para mejorar la producción de una determinada unidad de negocio
1. Definir y estandarizar métodos de trabajo creando diagramas de flujo y/o análisis hombre-máquina para reducir la variación y mejora del flujo de los procesos.
2. Participar en los proyectos y lineamientos de Seguridad así como su cumplimiento.
