Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and test PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems (Rockwell, Siemens)
  • Develop functional specifications and process control descriptions

The PLC engr uses an array of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical devices to accomplish this task. Controlling these devices and coordinating them with the flow of cases through the palletizer is the fundamental task of the palletizer controls engineer. To accomplish this task, the following skills and abilities are needed
+ Learn the basics of case handling (how cases react as they flow through the palletizer).
+ Take a meaningful role in design and troubleshooting discussions with the mechanical engineers.
+ Design and implement control systems for palletizers. This includes creating the drawing package, releasing it to our panel builder and answering questions/resolving issues at our panel builder, in our assembly shop, and in the field.
+ Write and implement PLC and HMI programs for palletizers. If a project includes a robot, the Palletizer Controls Engineer is also responsible for the robot program.
+ Test and commission palletizers and robot cells in our St. Louis shop and at customer sites.
+ Execute all projects tasks on schedule and within contract hours.
YOU MUST HAVE
+ B.S. in Engineering or have significant experience as a skilled electrician or electronics specialist.
+ Working knowledge of PCs, PLC hardware, PLC programming and data communication, pneumatics and electronics.
+ Significant mechanical aptitude
+ English proficiency
+ 5+ years of experience
+ Willingness to travel

+ Ability to create electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
